KARACHI: At least three Rangers personnel were killed and two injured after unidentified assailants opened fire at a Rangers vehicle in Karachi’s Baldia Town locality on Friday, officials said.
Initial reports revealed that unidentified persons on a motorbike opened fire on a Rangers vehicle near Masjid Huraira in the area, injuring one member of security forces and leaving three dead.
DG Rangers Sindh, Bilal Akbar, confirmed that, rangers were on toutine duty providing security to the Masjid in the area when unidentified persons on a motorbike opened fire on the vehicle, in which eight Rangers men were present.
Asearch operation has been launched and we will do everything to bring the perpetrators to justice, said DG Rangers.
He said that terrorists were probably come to attack the masjid.
DIG-West Feroze Shah said that two paramilitary personnel were killed whereas another two personnel, who were inside a mobile van, sustained injuries.
Rangers is currently spearheading a grand operation against criminal elements in Karachi.
