PESHAWAR, 21 June: The district administrations of Peshawar and Mardan have banned the sale of toy guns during Eid.
The administration in Peshawar on Tuesday sealed 12 godowns and arrested three persons over violation of the ban. The deputy commissioner said toy guns worth lakhs of rupees were recovered during the action.
The deputy commissioner of Mardan has also banned sale of toy guns and fireworks and aerial firing for one month under Section 144.
However, the citizens have demanded permanent ban on these items. They said toy guns, fireworks and other such items can negatively affect their children. They said the distributers have already distributed toy guns in shops of the city and rural areas, and the administration seems to be late in reacting to the situation.
