Qissa Khawani Darwesh Win Hockey League In Peshawar

PESHAWAR, 21 June: Qissa Khawani Darwesh have won the Peshawar Hockey League title.

In the final match of the tournament at Qayyum Stadium on Tuesday night, Qissa Khawani Darwesh defeated Islamia College Stori 2-1 after an exciting contest.

Peshawar District Nazim Arbab Muhammad Asim, who was chief guest at the concluding ceremony, distributed prizes among the players.

Yasir Ali, captain of the winning team, told TNN that such tournaments greatly benefit the youth.

“Unfortunately, Pakistan’s performance in hockey is not so good. The Pakistan Hockey Federation and district administration should arrange more such events to unearth new talent which will improve the condition of the sport in the country,” he said.

A large number of spectators came to the stadium to enjoy the match. Five teams from Peshawar including Balahisar Baryali, Ghanta Ghar Zalmi, Hayatabad Toryali, Qissa Khawani Darwesh and Islamia College Stori took part in the event.
