PESHAWAR, 19 June: The Masjid Qasim Ali Khan and local Ruet-e-Hilal committees have called their meetings for sighting the moon of Eidul Fitr on Saturday, May 24.
After this development, chances of one Eid in the whole country appear to be dim and it is likely that two Eids will be celebrated. Media reports said the Qasim Ali Khan Mosque and local committees have made this announcement as they observed first of Ramazan on 27 May according to which 29th Ramazan falls on 24 June. If Qasim Ali Khan Mosque or other local committees sighted the moon on 24 June then Eid will be observed in most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA on Sunday, 25 June.
On the other hand, the official Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has called its meeting for moon sighting in Peshawar on 25 June. A representative from Qasim Ali Khan Mosque has also been invited to the meeting. However, the mosque administration has sent an invitation to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to send its representative to the unofficial meeting which will be held on 24 June.
