PML-N wins Islamabad LG polls with slight margin


ISLAMABAD: According to the results released by District Returning Officer (DRO), Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has secured 19 chairman seats following rival Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) with 17 positions in Islamabad’s local government (LG) polls.
The DRO has sent the complete result of 50 UCs to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) according to which independent candidates scored 13.
The ECP likely to issue an official notification of successful candidates today.
The DRO report which has sent to ECP says that the winner the Union Council, UC-4, will be decided by a toss as the vote count ended in a tie between the candidates.
Residents of Islamabad went to the polls on Monday amidst tight security to elect local representatives for the first time under the newly-minted Islamabad Local Government Act, 2015.
