PM Nawaz says federal to give 50% in compensation package for quake victims in KP


PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while announcing compensation package has said that federal government will pay fifty percent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for compensation for Monday’s deadly earthquake.
The centre and provincial governments to pay Rs 6 lakh for the families of those killed in earthquake and Rs 2 lakh for injured,” announced Nawaz Sharif while addressing a press conference at Governor House, Peshawar.
Rs 2 lakh for damaged house and Rs 1 lakh for partially damaged house, added Prime Minister.
The federal government will pay fifty percent of compensation amount to the earthquake-hit victims,” said Prime Minister while addressing a press conference at Governor House Peshawar.
He was briefing media men after chairing a high level meeting which was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and high ranking officials of federal and provincial relief agencies, held at Governor House in Peshawar.
“At least 222 people were killed and 1688 others wounded due to the earthquake in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” told Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) officials while briefing Nawaz Sharif.
The official said 8,453 houses were damaged as a result of massive earthquake.
They said 1,000 bags of edible items, 2,000 tents and 2,000 blankets have been dispatched to the quake-stricken areas.
The officials also informed Nawaz Sharif about the compensation package according to which the families of those who lost their lives in quake will receive Rs 3 Lakh and injured Rs 1. The provincial government will also pay Rs 1 lakh a two-room house damaged in massive earthquake and Rs 80000 for single room house which was doubled by PM Nawaz.
