PM Nawaz Appears Before Panamagate JIT Probing Sharif Family’s Assets

ISLAMABAD, 15 June: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday appeared before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), set up by the Supreme Court to probe premier’s family offshore properties abroad.
Addressing the media after his appearance before the JIT, PM Nawaz said that he has submitted complete money trail of his offshore assets adding that he has accounted for every penny today.
The premier’s sons Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and others accompanied him during his appearance at Federal Judicial Academy, temporary headquarters of the JIT. The JIT has also summoned Shahbaz Sharif on June 17 and Captain Safdar, son in law of Prime Minister, on June 21.
The six member JIT comprising financial experts and representatives of intelligence agencies had questioned Prime Minister’s two sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz for six and four times respectively.
The Supreme Court had taken up the Panamagates issue last year and in its verdict held that an investigation team should probe the money trail after the premier’s family failed to produce a clear money trail to establish amassing of assets abroad.
