PM Arrives At National Judicial Academy To Appear Before JIT

PESHAWAR, 15 June: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has arrived at the National Judicial Academy to appear before the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing Panama Papers case against Sharif family.

All the routes leading to the Federal Judicial Academy were closed since the morning and over 2,500 security officials have been deployed on the routes and around the judicial academy for the security of the prime minister. The prime minister has asked the party leaders and activists not to visit the Judicial Academy during his appearance before the JIT.

The six-member JIT was formed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to probe allegations of money laundering, tax evasion and accumulation of wealth outside the country on the Sharif family. The prime minister’s son Hassan Nawaz has appeared six times before the JIT, while his other son Hussain Nawaz has appeared twice.

The prime minister was asked to bring all relevant documents along with him while appearing before the JIT. Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who is brother of Nawaz Sharif, has also been summoned by the JIT on 17 June, while Captain Safdar, son-in-law of the PM, has been summoned on 24 June.
