PESHAWAR, 14 June: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered inclusion of 13 disputed villages of Mohmand Agency into National Assembly constituency NA-36.
The FATA Political Alliance leader Nisar Mohmand had filed a petition in the PHC in which he stated that under the Constitution of Pakistan these 13 villages were part of Mohmand Agency and only the President of Pakistan has the powers to include any area of FATA in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said these villages were included in Peshawar and Charsadda by the political and district administration in 2001 illegally.
Nisar Mohmand said the landmark decision of the PHC will bring about 100,000 population of these 13 villages back to Mohmand Agency. He said the people of Mohmand Agency will greatly benefit from this decision.
“When census was started in Mohmand Agency, these villages were counted as part of Mohmand Agency according to the 1998 record. The court has also given its verdict in this regard and now the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics should also include these areas in Mohmand Agency,” he said
