PHC orders free of cost treatment for dengue patients

PESHAWAR, 26 August: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to provide dengue testing machines and free of cost treatment facility to dengue fever patients.
The two-members bench headed by Justice Qalandar Ali also asked the government to establish special cells in different areas for dengue awareness and control. The provincial government was also directed not to limit dengue control measures to Peshawar only.
The dengue has been spreading to other districts as cases reported in Mardan, Buner, Karak and Hazara Division.
So far, more than 2000 dengue cases were reported. Three fresh cases have surfaced in Swabi, four in Lower Dir and two cases have surfaced in Abbottabad.
The court ordered completion of construction work on University Road as soon as possible. The court asked the deputy commissioner of Peshawar to present progress report in this regard on daily basis.
