PESHAWAR, 14 June: Pakistan will face England in the first semi-final of ICC Champions Trophy today (Wednesday) at Cardiff.
The match will begin at 2:30pm (PST). Cricket experts say England are clear favourites going into the game. However, Pakistan can upset them giving their repute of unpredictability. England are still unbeaten in the mega event and Pakistan will have to play out of their skins to win the contest. England have beaten Pakistan in 12 out of the last 14 ODI encounters. However, Pakistan won the last contest, chasing a target of 303 at Cardiff.
Pakistan are likely to go into the match with the same team which beat Sri Lanka, while England are likely to replace misfiring opener Jason Roy with Jonny Bairstow.
Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said on the eve of the match that the credit of previous two wins go to the bowlers. He said he is hopeful that the batsmen will lift their game in the match against England. The form of the Pakistani middle order batsmen is a cause of concern for the team.
Pakistan are playing the Champions Trophy semi-final for the fourth time. Weather is expected to be fine during the match.
