Pakistan Begins Fencing Of Border With Afghanistan

PESHAWAR, 21 June: Work on fencing of the Pak-Afghan border has been launched on the directives of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the fencing is been carried out as part of operation Raddul Fasaad to improve security measures at the border. It said fencing will be carried out in the sensitive areas of the border in Khyber, Bajaur and Mohmand tribal agencies in the first phase. It said fencing in the rest of tribal agencies and Balochistan will be carried out in the second phase.

Besides fencing of the border, the Pakistan Army and Frontier Constabulary are establishing new check posts on the Pak-Afghan border to further improve security.

Pakistan says the fencing is being carried out to stop movement of Afghan based militants across the border.
