PESHAWAR, 8 June: Pakistan defeated South Africa by 19 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method in an important match of Champions Trophy at Edgbaston on Wednesday night.
South Africa elected to bat first and scored 219 runs for the loss of eight wickets. David Miller was top scorer with 75 runs. South African captain AB de Villiers was out for a golden duck for the first time in his in ODI career. Hasan Ali got three wickets, while Junaid Khan and Imad Wasim got two wickets each. Pakistan were batting on 119 for the loss of three wickets in 27 overs when rain stopped the play. Pakistan were declared winners by 19 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method by the umpires.
Hasan Ali was declared player of the match for his brilliant bowling.
Pakistan will play their next match against Sri Lanka on Monday. Pakistan will need to win that match to qualify for the semi-finals.
India will face Sri Lanka in Champions Trophy today.
