Nine dead, 35 injured as gunmen storm hostel of Peshawar’s Agricultural Directorate


PESHAWAR: At least nine people were killed and 15 injured in terrorists attack on Agriculture Directorate on University Road Peshawar on Friday. All attackers were also killed by security forces in joint operation.
According to reports, six dead bodies and 18 injured were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex, while three dead bodies and 17 injured were shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital.
A spokesman for Khyber Teaching hospital confirmed three deaths, while 17 injured were also admitted into hospital.
According to reports, the HMC administration confirmed that the hospital received six dead bodies and 18 injured.
The SSP operations and ISPR also confirmed the killing of all attackers, who were wearing suicide jackets. The security forces also recovered huge weapons and explosive materials from the terrorists.
The attack was claimed by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
According to ISPR, all the terrorists have been killed in the security forces operation. Similarly, KP police also confirmed that all terrorists have been neutralized after a successful operation by KP Police and other security agencies in Agriculture Training Institute.
Earlier, a spokesman for the Khyber Teaching hospital, Dr Saaud told media that 16 injured were shifted to the hospital. He said that the injured except two students were in stable condition. He said that two students with bullet injuries are being operated upon at operation theater. He said that the media man was also out of danger. Two of the injured were being discharged from the hospital, the spokesman said.
According to reports, three attackers, with their faces covered, entered the directorate while firing at the guard, who was injured. According to reports, one media person, three policemen, two army men, students were among the injured. The injured were shifted to nearby Khyber Teaching Hospital. Two army soldiers were shifted to CMH from Khyber Teaching hospital, the doctor said.
The university was closed due to Eid Milad-un Nabi holiday. However, about 100 students were reportedly present in the hostels. A student, who escaped from the hostel along with 14 other students said that around 130 students were present in the hostel. However, said that two injured students were also rescued by them.
The university road has been closed for traffic as the security forces started operation inside the university.
Meanwhile, Governor KP, Engr. Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Chief Minister Pervez Khattak,Chairman Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari strongly condemned terrorists attack on Agriculture Institute. They said it is very deplorable that the terrorists selected the sacred day of Eid-e-Milad -un- Nabi for carrying out their nefarious activity. They also expressed their heartfelt grief over the loss of lives in the attack and sympathies with the bereaved families. Governor KP also directed health authorities to provide all possible treatment facilities to the injured.
