KP Government Orders Inquiry Into Irregularities In Art Festival


PESHAWAR, 16 June: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has ordered investigation into irregularities in the art festival organised by Tourism Department in May.

According to KP Music Society, Tourism Department Secretary Tariq Khan has decided to conduct inquiry after media reports of irregularities and protest by artisans. According to a notification of the Tourism Department, Culture Department Deputy Director Shahbaz Khan has been appointed inquiry officer to probe reports of irregularities in the art festival.

Some artistes in KP had alleged that the Tourism Department had given Rs14 million contract of art festival organised in first week of May in Peshawar to a private firm without issuing any tender. They alleged corruption in the award of contract and protested against the Tourism Department for ignoring eminent artistes in the festival.
