PESHAWAR, 16 June: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak has approved compensation package for the families of seven doctors how died during duty.
The chief minister issued these orders after protests and strikes by the young doctors in the province. According to the summary approved by the chief minister, the heirs of the deceased doctors will get package equal to Grade-17 officers. The government generally gives compensation to civil servant medical officers. However, the deceased doctors also include four trainee medical officers who were not entitled to compensation under the law.
Young doctors are holding protests for payment of compensation to the families of deceased trainee doctors and other demands since long. Scuffles between doctors and police were also reported during the protests and cases have also been registered against several doctors.
