Jaffar Express derailment: Death toll rises to 20


QUETTA: The death tolls of the Jaffar Express mishap raised to 20, confirmed Director General Railway.
Jaffar Express was en route to Rawalpindi from Quetta when its five bogies derailed in Ab-i-Gum area of the Bolan district Tuesday.
The DG Railway said that 20 people including driver and assistant driver were killed in the mishap.
Rescue, FC and Levies sources have rushed to the site of the incident and shifted the injured people to nearby hospital and Quetta.
At least 100 people were injured and being shifted to various hospitals including in Quetta where state of emergency has been declared.
According to ISPR, 26 injured were airlifted to Quetta.
The reason of the mishap are unknown yet. The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered inquire in the incident.
A quick reaction force of FC Balochistan along with ambulances reached at site of train accident for rescue operation, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Two MI-17 helicopters of Pakistan Army have also flown from Quetta for the rescue operation, the statement added.
