Governor Announces Release Of People Arrested Under Collective Responsibility Law


PEAHAWAR, 18 July: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has announced release of people arrested under the collective responsibility law after firing on a check post of Khassadar Force in Mohmand Agency.

The governor made this announcement while chairing a meeting on FATA annual development programme at the Governor House in Peshawar on Monday. During the meeting, Chairman Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Senator Hilalur Rehman raised the issue of arrest of people under collective responsibility law in Mohmand Agency. The governor took notice of the matter and announced release of the arrested persons.

The meeting decided to set up a Jirga comprising five members from each tribe in Mohmand Agency to promote peaceful environment in the region.

A number of people were arrested by the security forces under collective responsibility law after unidentified armed men attacked a check post of Khassadar Force in Mohmand Agency last week.
