Dr. Asim denies allegations of providing treatment to terrorists in his hospital


KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi on Monday extended physical remand of former minister for petroleum Dr Asim Hussain for five-day.
The police presented Dr Asim before ATC in tight security arrangement.
During hearing, Asim, who is a close aide to former president Asif Zardari, denied all charges and expressed fears for his life.
“I deny all charges levelled against me. I’m still being threatened, they want to kill me, if I die the system will be responsible,” said emotional Asim during his court appearance amid tight security.
Rangers launched fake First Information Report (FIR) against him said Asim while appealing for justice in his case.
“I can’t stay silent anymore as my life is in danger,” he said.
The court extended his police remand for five more days.
Dr Asim, who served as the petroleum minister during the tenure of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government , was taken into custody on August 26 under Section 11-EEEE of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997, and a joint interrogation team was formed after getting approval from the Sindh government.
