Closure of only school in Khyber Agency’s Painda Lalma deprives 300 students of education


KHYBER AGENCY: At least 300 girls from far flung Painda Lalma area of Khyber Agency are unable to continue their education with the area only school was closed.
The community school was become the only school in the area for the children in 19998 to get education. However the school was forced to close by the education department of Khyber Agency in 2014.
The community school was started in 1998 in the area under an agreement that the s school would be permanent and not be closed, said local elders The leaders Zahirullah Mulagori and Khushal Khan said that at the time of closure around 300 girls were enrolled while a two-room building was also constructed after land was donated to it.
Many parents are concerned for their children’s education. Muhammad Idrees, father of three children, said that they have no choice but to keep his children deprived of the education. “I can’t afford to send my children miles way”, he said.
The local elders appealed Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Director Education Fata to reopen the school so that their daughters could get education.
