Bakakhel Wazir Market presents deserted look after return of displaced people

BANNU: Trades in Bakakhel Wazir Mandi near Bannu have said their businesses have been affected after return of temporarily displaced people of North Waziristan Agency.

The traders called upon the government to make arrangements for easy travel of people from North Waziristan to the Bakakhel Wazir market to promote business activities. The shopkeepers said a lot of people used to visit the market when the temporarily displaced persons (TDPs) from North Waziristan were residing in the areas around the market. However, the situation changed after the return of the TDPs to North Waziristan and now the market is wearing a deserted look.

Jameel Daryadil, a local tribesman who owns a hotel in the market, told TNN that his business has also been affected and now he is finding it hard to continue his business like this.

Another shopkeeper, Waheed, said the Bakakhel market witnessed hustle and bustle with the arrival of TDPs and now it is deserted after their return. He demanded the government to provide facilities to the people of North Waziristan to easily travel Bakakhel market in order to bring back hustle and bustle to the market.
