Armed men kidnap 17 tourists from Landi Kotal


LANDIKOTAL: Unknown armed men on Tuesday abducted as many as 16 tourists from Landikotal’s Enzar Naq area, bordering area of Afghanistan, on Tuesday , according to local authorities.
According to political administration of Khyber Agency, a group of tribal mostly of youth who went to picnic to mountain on Monday. They were in Enzar Naw area of Landikotal when they were kidnapped by unknown men on gun point. According to reports, they were shifted to Afghanistan side.
The abductees were residents of Abdulkhad and Gagra areas of Landi Kotal, sources informed.
Walyam Khan, an elder said that seven members of his family were including among the missing persons who had been in the hilly area for a day picnic.
They were informed by a person who had made escape from captive of unknown persons and quoting the escaped person said, suddenly number of persons appeared in the area and on gun point point shifted the tribesmen to unknown destination.
Assistant Political Agent (APA)Landi Kotal,Niaz Muhammad while confirming the incident said that in initial report received by the administration, 17 locals were missing and they were striving hard to trace whereabouts of the effectees. A group of security agencies personnel was dispatched to the site to collected evidences from the site, forces sources said.
The locals regretted that in spite of numbers of security checkpoints on all hilly points on the bordering area by the security forces, the kidnapping of 17 locals was matter of concern.
