6.2 magnitude earthquake shakes parts of Pakistan


ISLAMABAD: An earthquake measuring 6.2 magnitude on the Richter Scale struck several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Punjab, Azad Kashmir and Islamabad on Sunday night.
The earthquake was felt in Dir, Malakand, Chitral, Attock, Mirpur, Kohat and Gilgit.
It also jolted Islamabad, Lahore, Nankana Sahib, DI Khan, Jhelum and Sialkot, prompting terrified residents to recite the Kalma and move to safety.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located in Hindu Kush Region, the border areas of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
Some areas of Afghanistan, occupied Kashmir and India also felt the quake.
In a statement shortly after the earthquake, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said that no damage was reported anywhere in the province.
