Two more dengue patient die in Peshawar


PESHAWAR: Two more person was died in Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) today, taking the total number of dengue deaths in the province to 17. Apart from that, 135 fresh cases of dengue were also reported from provincial capital today.
Four-year-old son of Akhtar Ali, a resident of tehkal and 45 year-old Fatima, wife of Khyber Teaching Hospital’s lab technician were died today at KTH.
Previously, the provincial government imposed a health emergency on September 1 for 60 days after a delay of one and a half month.
However; even then the virus has claimed fives lives. Health minister Shahram Tarakai has said that the government is utilizing all resources to tackle the contagious disease.
According to a report by Dengue Response Unit, the number of affected patients in various government hospitals of the province is 406.
The number of dengue patients in Khyber Agency has also mounted to seven with emergence of new cases. Four cases have surfaced in Jamrud, while three cases have surfaced in Bara.
The Dengue Response Unit said tests of 1,558 patients were conducted in different hospitals on Monday out of which 290 were tested positive. It said 55 patients have been discharged from hospitals after completion of treatment.
