Mashal Khan lynched under conspiracy, says JIT report


PESHAWAR: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the murder of Mashal Khan, a student of Journalism Department of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, in its report has said he was killed under a conspiracy.

According to media reports, the report released on Sunday said a plan was made in the university for the murder of Mashal Khan as a particular political group was against the activities of the student. The report said Mashal Khan was very candid in his criticism of mismanagement in the university administration.

The report said no proof of blasphemy against Mashal Khan or his friends was found during investigations. It said a particular group incited people against Mashal Khan in the name of blasphemy due to which the incident occurred. The report also criticised the role of police and said they did not act in time. It said inefficient people have been appointed in the university on political basis, while the use of arms and narcotics is common there.
