Govt seals institute running ‘fake’ medical courses in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: The district government of Peshawar today sealed Ghazali Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) for running unrecognized and fake medical courses.
“The GIMS is totally fake and unrecognized institute which was running medical courses for last five years,” said senior district official, Irshad Sodhar after sealing the institute.
The Assistant Commissioner Irshad Sodhar raided on GIMS, located near Nasir Bagh area today following receiving information that the institute is not registered with any recognized body of medical sciences.
The fake medical college was running for the last five years. The University neither affiliated with Khyber Medical University KMU nor Pakistan Medical and Dental Colleges (MDC), a statutory body which regulates the practice of the Pakistani system of medicine of public and private sectors.
The GIMS was offering degrees and diplomas in various areas that include Psychology, Anaesthesiology, Cardiology, Dental Technology, Dialysis Technology, Health Technology, Surgery Technology, Radiology, Physiotherapy Technician and Pharmacy Technician.
The director and other administers of the GIMS escaped following raid. The AC has taken all the record in his procession for further investigation in the case.
According to sources, 300 were currently enrolled in various diplomas.
