Afghan Peace Conference Gets Underway Amid Surge In Terror Attacks

KABUL, 06 June: The multinational Peace Conference on Afghanistan has been started in Kabul on Tuesday in a bid to develop wider consensus on how to end an increasingly deadly conflict in the country and collectively fight terrorism.
Delegates from at least 12 countries including Pakistan were participating in the peace conference.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani inaugurated the summit. A minute silence was also observed in remembrance for the victims of Kabul and London blasts.
In his opening remarks, Ashraf Ghani said that in last two years, surge in number of foreign militants have been witnessed. He said that aim of the peace conference is to establish a regional and global census in the fight against terrorism and the Afghan peace process.
