11 killed as chairlift collapses in Murree


MURREE: At least 11 people have died when a chairlift set up to connect two villages collapsed at Charra Pani in Murree on Thursday.
According to police, the chairlift connecting Banwari Village to Charra Pani collapsed after which the chairlift fell into a deep ravine. As result, 10 people were killed on the spot and two others injured.
The dead bodies and injured were taken to Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi. Later, one of the injured succumbed to his injuries while the condition of the another injured was stated to be critical.
According to locals, all they were cricket players and were going to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the cricket match.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif expressed sorrow over the tragic incident and ordered inquiry.
